Help Chile Earthquake Survivors

A massive magnitude 8.8 earthquake struck Chile early Saturday, February 27, 2010, setting off tsunami warnings for the entire Pacific basin. Reports estimate that over 700 people are dead and countless others are facing more damage from strong aftershocks. Emergency supplies such as food, water and medical supplies are desperately needed. The organizations below need your help now to be able to provide assistance in the days, weeks, and months ahead.

ADRA International [2]

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is assessing the needs in the worst hit areas and coordinating with authorities. ADRA expects to provide jerry cans, tents, mattresses, and blankets.

American Red Cross [3]

The American Red Cross is making $50,000 available for relief operations in Chile while also helping people in Hawaii prepare for a possible tsunami.

Americares [4]

AmeriCares is sending a rapid response team to help provide disaster relief in Chile. Medicines, medical supplies and other humanitarian aid are being readied for immediate shipment.

Convoy of Hope [5]

Convoy of Hope teams are headed to Chile to assess damage, coordinate relief efforts and provide clean water.

Direct Relief International [6]

Direct Relief International has offered assistance to Chilean authorities, emergency relief organizations, and U.S.-based partners working in Chile.

Doctors Without Borders [7]

The first members of an exploratory team from Doctors Without Borders/Médecins San Frontières (MSF) have already arrived in Santiago. MSF is already in contact with Chilean government authorities to coordinate the relief effort.

GlobalGiving [8]

GlobalGiving has established funds to support partners on the ground to provide victims of the earthquake with critical necessities including water, food, shelter, and medical care.

Operation USA [9]

Operation USA is sending medical aid to Chile as necessary as part of the relief efforts following the earthquake.

OXFAM America [10]

Oxfam is flying in an emergency team to assess the disaster and prepare a response.

Salvation Army [11]

Salvation Army emergency services were immediately mobilised to provide support and comfort. International financial assistance is already on the way from The Salvation Army international headquarters in London.

Samaritan's Purse [12]

Samaritan’s Purse emergency workers are bringing in truckloads of food and blankets. We are working with evangelical church partners in the affected areas to assess the needs and determine the locations where we can help.

ShelterBox USA [13]

An initial consignment of 448 ShelterBoxes and a response team are being sent to Chile. On arrival the team will join up with local Rotarians and the Red Cross to establish where the greatest need for emergency shelter is.

United Way Worldwide [14]

United Way is working with its organization in Chile, Corporacion Sociedad Activa, and its community networks to respond to the devastation caused by the earthquake and to determine the most pressing long-term recovery needs.

World Vision International [15]

World Vision is getting ready to transport emergency relief supplies and to send more staff to support the relief response.

World Vision US [16]

World Vision US has begun relief distribution to survivors.
