Gregg Kelley, the group’s director of development, says that online giving now makes up 40% of Legal Aid’s total annual fundraising dollars.

The Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia was formed in 1932 to provide civil legal aid to individuals, families, and communities who could not otherwise afford a lawyer. Over the past 80 years, Legal Aid has helped tens of thousands of D.C. residents obtain meaningful access to justice. To fund this mission and reach potential donors, Legal Aid takes their message online; in 2011, 40% of the nonprofit’s donations arrived through their Web channels.

- Emma Balina, manager of annual fund and alumni relations, Pacific Ridge School
Any nonprofit would consider itself lucky if, after only six years since its founding, it already enjoyed an engaged, enthusiastic community of donors. Carlsbad California’s Pacific Ridge School (PRS), founded in 1997, has done just that. Thanks to its mission of preparing students both for college and a purposeful life by fostering academic excellence, ethical responsibility, and global engagement, this independent academy’s staff, parents, and alumni are always eager to step up to the donation plate.
The Branson School, a private college prep academy just north of San Francisco, relies on parents and alumni to support its mission to help students lead a life of purpose, passion, and fulfillment. It’s important to understand what our community feels is important about our work.
